System Physicist
Magnus-Metal is a growing start-up company, developing a new additive casting process for
manufacturing very large metal parts. This new digital technology combines casting and additive
manufacturing, that outputs cast metal parts based on the customer’s CAD .
Our development machine has proven the technology and process, and we are currently recruiting
excellent professionals to join our multi-disciplinary R&D team which was assigned to meet the
challenging scale-up issues.
Job Summary:
The position of a System Physicist includes extensive hands-on involvement in the development of
our first-generation industrial machine. The system physicist at Magnus Metal is expected to be a
highly experienced physicist who brings deep physical understanding, wide technological
knowledge, enthusiasm, and commitment to the development process, working in tight
collaboration with other development disciplines.
Essential Job Functions:
- Gaining knowledge and understanding of the machine's inner workings and driving physical principles, attaining a holistic view of the casting process and the machine.
- Detecting, characterizing, understanding, and solving unpredicted challenges.
- Devising and implementing novel solutions.
- Designing, performing, and analyzing on-tool experiments.
Qualification:
- PhD in physics or highly experienced MSc physicist.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in hardware-oriented industrial or start-up R&D
- Knowledge in programming and data science skills – advantage
